I think making flat wall was a large amount work never to return. One could argue that this made more pleasant interior walls, but what is the advantage of making the walls flat field?

Outside helps shed the rain better. But I like the traditional look better. Inside the flat profile is more convenient to attach things like cabinets and partition walls.
